The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta is seeking an individual for the position of
Economic Specialist in the Economic Section and Visa Clerk in the Consular
Section. The U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya is seeking an individual for the
position of Maintenance Supervisor (Facility Operations Engineer) in the
Management Section and Information Assistant in the Public Affairs Office.
Economic Specialist - Jakarta

Basic Function of Position

The Economic Specialist has substantive responsibility for supporting the
Embassy's oil, gas, mining, electricity and renewable energy portfolio,
including researching issues, analyzing events and trends, advising a variety of
audiences, developing and maintaining a broad network of contacts, and
supporting all Economic section programs and initiatives that touch on these
sectors. Major functions include: monitoring, researching, and analyzing
developments within these sectors; providing substantive and procedural advice
to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in these sectors; and
developing and maintaining an array of contacts with a wide range of government
officials and industry executives. The Economic Specialist works in the Economic
Section, directly supervised by the Energy and Natural Resources Officer.

Qualifications Required
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with
specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

Bachelors degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, International Relations is
required.
Must have a minimum five years experience in energy, economics, business, or
policy related field, with demonstrated understanding of economic policy and
experience working with government officials, and/or private sector foreign and
domestic business professionals.
Level 4 (Fluent) in speaking/reading/writing English and Bahasa Indonesia are
required. Language Proficiency will be tested.
Detailed knowledge of the organizational structure and functions of the
Government of Indonesia, particularly of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Resources and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Knowledge of Government of
Indonesia priorities in these sectors, and where and how those priorities
conflict. Knowledge of the operations and governance of the energy and mining
industry in Indonesia. Knowledge of fundamental elements of these industries,
including production sharing contracts, contracts of work, power purchase
agreements, independent power providers, service companies, exploration and
development. General knowledge of the influence of international capital and
commodity markets on Indonesia.
Must be able to represent the Embassy effectively and professionally by adapting
style and content of communication to fit the wide range of audiences and
settings this position encounters, from a one-on-one phone conversation with a
member of the House of Representative to a bilateral energy policy forum to a
presentation before a group of school children. Must be able to research and
report, and contribute to officer reporting, on energy and mining policy and
bilateral issues for a variety of internal and external audiences. Must be able
to synthesize complex ideas and issues into clear concise prose.
Proficient in the use of office computer software is required.

Maintenance Supervisor / Facility Operations Engineer - Surabaya
Basic Function of Position

The incumbent serves as the Facility Operation Engineer with the responsibility
for the operation of the chancery and other facilities on the chancery compound
including at major building systems and related equipment. S/He also plans,
executes, and coordinates day to day operation of housing facility operation at
houses. S/he acts as the single point of contact for coordinating all operation
works in chancery and houses, i.e. city water and city power routine works,
gardening contractors, garbage remove services, marble polishing, and furniture
repairs. The incumbent is responsible for supervision of the plant operations,
for the efficient operation of all building systems, for overseeing the
preventive maintenance program, for repairing of the building itself and all
building systems, for the planning of major and specials projects, and for the
supervising of all technical contracts associated with these studies.

Qualifications RequiredAll applicants must address each selection criterion
detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each
item.

Minimum Bachelors degree in Civil and Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical
Engineering is required.
At least four years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance
area, includes mechanical, maintenance planning, estimating and inspection are
required. Must have hands on experience in the building maintenance system,
operation and equipment. Three years supervision role of maintenance staff is
required. Please describe your supervisory experience in detail. Be sure to

subordinates, the length of time in position, and your employer.
Level 4 (Fluent) in speaking/reading/writing English and Bahasa Indonesia are
required. Language Proficiency will be tested.
Must have a wide range and in-depth knowledge of engineering expertise in local
standard, code and practices. Deep knowledge in building maintenance system,
operation, and equipment. Advanced knowledge on construction engineering
including advanced knowledge in building structure principle and analysis,
roofing structures, plumbing expertise, climate control, heat ventilation, air
condition, pumping and fluid transfer. A wide range and in-depth knowledge of
engineering expertise in codes and practices.



Must have skills in IT software (office computer software and design software),
mechanical operation (utilize sophisticated maintenance tools to track, record,
troubleshoot and fine tuning of M&E work, construction engineering), internal
communications, external communications and written communications.
